At the United Airlines media day executives spoke about the cheaper days for flights and the fastest days to flights, as a part of a study of 365 days of ticket sales on the United Airlines website.

When to book united flights?

  • On Saturdays and Sundays, consumers usually pay lower prices, on average, than on the weekdays. However, the price is not lower on those days only. It is just that passenger's book on weekends while business travelers book on weekends. Less costly business tickets are booked on the weekend, meaning that the overall prices are cheaper on those days.
  • Tuesday is the cheapest day to travel.
  • The cheapest tickets are bought from 6:00 a.m. and Noon. During the day, the price is more likely to increase than to go down; however, the impact is meager.

Some points to remember before booking tickets:

  • Knowing how much the tickets usually cost on your route can be helpful. In that way, you will know when prices are higher or lower than usual. If they're lower, you should consider buying. If they're higher, it can be advisable to wait.
  • Do not buy your tickets before your plans are firm because change fees can eat up your savings.
  • Consider buying around three months in advance. There are always few last-minute deals but not predictable ones to depend on, within 90 days airline schedules are firm, and discount fares are loaded, and that could even get you a fee-free cancellation or change if you want it.
